I get caught in the abstraction of my work forgetting that the processes I use are part of a traditional craft. Both the sheet and blanket are from me, and have been used and put through many washings. And, in this case, it's the function that counts.
When that little tyke is walking, the quilt may get dragged around, loved much and washed more, and eventually end up as strings. Such is the fate of many a child's quilt.
ReplyDeleteExactly as it should be. There will be other beds, other years, and other quilts.
DeleteExactly right. And the mama may have those strings 50 years later, tucked away.
