Look What I Brought Home

Last weekend was fun. At "Glorious Prints" I got to demo all kinds of things. This monoprint (now washed and ready for me to use) I made on new plastic., which reacted in a way that repelled the thickened dye. So, it's got a texture new to me. And I've got some great material.

  1. There are a lot of people doing 'flow' paintings with thinned acrylic paint, diluted acrylic medium and WD-40 to mix and flow over a background. They would be thrilled to have this kind of cell effect. They get something similar when the WD-40 or silicone creates cell bubble like spots randomly in the paint.

    1. Hi Bob, and thanks for the explanation on how other media create this effect. Even though I know these are aniline dyes, and should be used with care, I feel that the thickened dye is fairly safe, and I love that I can do all kinds of things with it without chemicals, paints, varnish, well, the list goes on. And, it is not lost on me that this is a painterly effect. And that I could easily take up pigment and paint. But I'm still stuck on fabric. Sigh.
