Sheila Hicks "Bas Relief Panel", 1988, was on view on my recent visit to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. In their contemporary craft section, I found this piece so quilterly,with patterning like any block. But it is
embroidered, bleached linen. Guess I was fooled.
