High Squareness

Reaching for this to add to the little exhibit this week, but needed a name. I'll have to go with "Hens and Chickens" for this one. Though it's much more! And for what it's worth, there are only two yard fabrics used here.
 

Rare Sighting

This summer I was lucky to get to the Atlantic as well as Pacific coasts. This weekend was home base, almost, in the Adirondacks with family. I didn't think I'd get out to one of my favorite places, but on the last days of September, I did. 
 

Brilliance

A gift to the Burchfield-Penney Art Center included dozens of top notch glass sculptures. This one was mesmerizing. Sculpture has advantages over two dimensional work, and I find myself jealous at times. 
 

Early and Late

 

Top view is near the start of the piece, the bottom view just before I put it on the longar to quilt. It's about 24" wide and will go to the Schweinfirth for their silent auction during Quilts-Art-Quits. 

How It Shows Up

You've seen this piece at its start, in bits here and there, as it went through the formative process and is now finished. This is a view that shows scale, not the details or closeup showing the print quality. I like to show the way it fits in the room. And I wanted to live with it a few days before it hangs October away.

 

Textile Large Scale

Ann Clarke's exhibition 'Interior Landscapes' is at the Burchield-Penney Art Center in Buffalo, NY. We made a field trip to see these breathtaking fulled (knited then felted) works today.Here's a person to guage that large size. A close up detail shows the color changes. Wonderful textile art. 
 

Hung Up

We've decided (my literary commity) that this will be name 'Slight of Hand' and I've added it to my design all after trimming but before facing it. It was a long longarm day yestereay, and at about 70" square, a bit of time to trim and face. Why are my days so short of time?
 

Back to Longarming

It was a marathon longarm sprint. I got it set up Friday, and finished Monday evening. Yes, I was gone a day for welcoming the fall, and pleased that this step is finished. Tomorrow I'll trim it and add facings and sleeve. My deadline approaches for installing in October. 
 

Busman't Holiday

A trip to a nearby town and lovely antique store on the weekend is where I found this early quilt. It's in good shape, is hand quilted, and has a simple patchwork pattern. but Most of all, I love the use of red and white throughout. A keeper to use.
 

Day Off

I love September. Not yet ready to turn on the heat, happy to let the garden go to seed, finding time to get small things taken care of, and happy to be back in the studio (before it becomes too cold to work in there). So, a day to find music, gather with family, enjoy this strange warm weather. You too, I hope.
 

Interim Stage

It seems like it's about finished but I want the columns to melt between each other. Although that may not occur. I like that there is a unifying color (yellow) that runs arcoss the whole piece, and that addition of pink that holds and brackets the piece. Not much blue!
