At the Shop

I finally got 'round to adding more printed yards to my web site store. Thank you to all who heard my talk on Joe Cunningham's lecture series Saturday. I'm guessing that's why there was a flutter of yards leaving the store and heading off to new places to be used wonderfully. Now there's more; above is a selection.

Mother's Treat

Tonight I treated myself (as a Mother's day extravagance) to a concert of Lyle Lovett and Lisa Loeb. I've been a fan of Lovett for years, but am new to Lisa Loeb. Well worth the 40 minute drive to the lovely Smith Opera House in Geneva, NY. And a nice chance to hear seasoned musicians.

Left Out of the Talk

The start of the printed "collection" is this dress I made for my daughter's wedding, and in today's talk (#47 of Joe Cunningham's series) is the one I meant to show.  I could choose between a song or a toast. I love a good  challenge. The song? "It Had to Be You."

Getting the Stage Set

Saturday morning I'll be a guest on Joe Cunningham's Quilt Freedom Workshop. Here's the studio wall piled with about 7 quilts to start. The tallest leads, and it's also the bridge from represtationmal to the abstract works I'm doing now. I always have fun, you would too. View anytime, here is the link for tickets:

Blowing Off Steam

My grandmother duties are almost done, and we did out best to run around as much as possible. Well, one of us ran. The other savored that ability and reminisced. Which was a fine activity as well. I'll be back home and ready for my date with Joe Cunningham and his virtual Quilt Freedom workshop Saturday.

Found Objects

On the streets of Baltimore today I found so many shapes, and I've collected these for my class Printing Under the Influence at QSDS this May. I've many more, and I'll print them out for reference when I get to the image part of the printing. I know I can translate this in several techniques.

Three Down, One to Go

I've brought these three 2 x 2 pieces with me on my grandmother visit, so naps, and in between times I can get the facings and sleeves sewn down. Since I was reticent to use straight pins, I folded, ironed, and then basted the facings. It wasn't difficult to remove basting, and it left no worry about loose pins.

Friday Coverlettes

This will be my SUNDAY NIGHT post as I'm in computer glitch land. Friday's lecture was in the Alling Coverlette Museum. There is major pattern inspiration here, and tons of Motif play. I'm taking these leaves!

Auction Action

I'll bring this to the QSDS auction when I travel this last week in May. All of 2 x 2, well hope this will go to a good forever home.

Plein Air on Spring Day

The Cornwall Preserve is a half-hour drive for me, and a fabulous property on Lake Ontario. My first visit had me stopping far short of the lake shore, the view was just what I needed. Great people for this paint-in, they were more talented than me, and full of ways to capture the landscape. Delightful break from work.

Stool Design

Senior project for this RIT industrial arts class was to build a stool. The results were gathered in an exhibition in a studio a floor above mine, so I jumped at the chance to see them and talk to the designers. What you might find just around the corner -- art, design, dialogue.
