Foolin with Indigo

Half of the day at the Schweinfurth wet-studio was spent experimenting with indigo. I'm a printer comfortable with MX or Procion dyes, not natural pigments. I've not gotten the hang of this process, that would take years. But the results are of interest, let's say.

  1. Very cool! Did you thicken the indigo dye to make these prints? I have a vat of indigo in my studio right now! And did you mordant the fabrics first?

    1. Hey Cris,

I did thicken the dye with sodium alginate, Then printed with screens and the usual other stuff. I did not premordant the fabric. We'll have to compare techniques!
